Townsend Labs Sphere L22 Review / Test

Today I review an XLR Modeling Mic which allows you to get a U47, M49, ELAM 251, C12 tone, for a fraction of the costs of the microphones. The Sphere L22 is extremely versatile and seemed to work well on everything that I threw at it as it has a mic it’s modeling that fits most use cases, it has a low self noise of 7dBa, and it has great accessories.

If you are not using the mic with universal audio interfaces, you will have to use a plugin in your daw and have to monitor that way so depending on your interface and computer, you may run into some latency issues. The mic will not get you the EXACT tone of these $10,000 microphones, but it’ll get you close enough that most people won’t be able to tell the difference.
