How To EQ Your Headset Mic To Sound Amazing!

In this video I demonstrate how you can EQ your headset microphone’s recording to sound better. A lot of headset microphones (such as the BPHS1) have an aggressive high pass filter on them. This can be beneficial if you’re broadcasting from a sporting event, as it will help reduce crowd noise.

When you’re recording in the studio though, this aggressive high pass filter can leave your voice sounding thin. A large low shelf can help bring a bit of that warmth and body back to your recording, and a tame high shelf can assist in adding a bit of shimmer to your recording.

The demonstration does not provide the best EQ settings, but rather it’s meant to provide a general idea of what you can do to improve the sound quality of your headset mic. I hope the video helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
